Evening.

In the second phase of the earth in God's plan, this earth of ours started off in complete darkness. I.e. darkness was upon the face of the deep Genesis 1:2. It was only when God said "let there be light" in Gen. 1:3 that one side of the rotating earth became free of darkness. That is, it became bathed in LIGHT. This meant that the earth had 12 hours of darkness followed by 12 hours of light. It was God that had divided the light from the darkness. Gen. 1:3

Remember in the real natural world, when the sun has SET a new NIGHT is begun. In like manner when the sun rises a new daylight period has begun. In this second phase of the earth we have NEVER had a 24 hour day; or 24 hours of daylight or we would be in perpetual light.

It was this light, that he further subdivided into two parts Morning and Evening

In Genesis 1:5; LIGHT = DAY

DARKNESS = NIGHT

Evening at the close of day.

Yes, and further, each use of "at even" in the KJV refers to the "afternoon" portion of the day, and NOT to the beginning of a new day. These usages are (40 in all):

Occurrences of "At Even" In the King James Bible:

(A careful study of these occurrences will reveal that in each and every instance, "at even" is referring to the end of the day, and not the beginning.)

3 (Deu 16:4 KJV) "And there shall be no leavened bread seen with thee in all thy coast seven days; neither shall there any thing of the flesh, which thou sacrificedst the first day at even, remain all night until the morning." **** The Israelites could only slit a lambs throat if they could SEE the position of the throat.

32 (Mat 14:15 KJV) "And when it was evening, his disciples came to him, saying, This is a desert place, and the time is now past; send the multitude away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves victuals." (it was obviously still daylight)
