Bride of Christ

We sent out an email recently to ask who people thought were the bride of Christ. Now as far as we in the uk are concerned it is the 144,000. This however requires an explanation and of course we are always ready to be corrected.

First and foremost a Bride is normally someone that is a virgin and using polite terms is one that is “untouched by human hands”. A spiritual bride would be one that is “untouched by spiritual hands” or who has not bowed down to other gods.

Secondly they would be forever with the husband. In the times of the exodus the being that became known as Jesus Christ was the one that married the original twelve tribes of Israel. The true chosen ones. This is shown in Jer. 3:14. I am married unto you. And Jer. 31:32. I am an Husband and Is. 54:5. I am thy husband.

Because they were physical it went wrong. THE GOOD NEWS IS that once Christ was resurrected after dying, he was free to remarry israel again. But who? They would have to be FIRST FRUITS we would have thought. But also because Christ is now a spirit being then the Bride would also have to be one.

Now whoever is changed in 1 Thes.4:17 is going to be “ever with Christ” i.e. the Bride. They cannot be the Bride at that point as they have only just been change and would need angels to be with them to overcome the shock of being another type of being. 7 years from that point the marriage would take place.

These would also be of the original 12 tribes of Israel. Modern day Britain or the English being Ephraim would be one of the tribes.

Rev. 7:4 points out it is 144,000 who are sealed or changed or cannot be killed. Rev.14:1-5 points out it is the 144,000 before the throne of god, and four beasts and elders; are virgins and firstfruits. Before the throne of GOD.

The marriage takes place 7 years later in Heaven Rev. 19:7 before Christ takes his bride back to earth with him and a vast multitude.

Hi Alex

Here are some scriptures that affirm that we are the bride of Christ:

I feel a divine jealousy for you, for I betrothed you to Christ to present you as a pure bride to her one husband. (II Corinthians 11:2, RSV).

And Jesus said to them, Can the wedding guests mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them? The days will come, when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast.(Matthew 9:15, RSV). (He's speaking of Himself here as the bridegroom). Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I therefore take the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute? Never! Corinthians 6:15, RSV). This is a comparison of our relationship to Christ as a wife and husband.

For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior. As the church is subject to Christ, so let wives also be subject in everything to their husbands. Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish. Even so husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. For no man ever hates his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, as Christ does the church, because we are members of his body.

For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh. This mystery is a profound one, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church; (Ephesians 5:23-32, RSV).

This is a very clear comparison of Christ as the husband caring for His wife, the church.Let us rejoice and exult and give him the glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his Bride has made herself ready; it was granted her to be clothed with fine linen, bright and pure; --for the fine linen is the righteous deeds of the saints. And the angel said to me, Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he said to me,These are true words of God. (Revelation 19:7-9, RSV).

This beautiful passage speaks of the wedding feast of the Lamb, at which we will all be present. And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband; (Revelation 21:2, RSV). We,the New Creation, ARE the holy city, the New Jerusalem. The bible is written in symbols, difficult for the Western mind to unfold, but the Spirit gives us the light. Christ is the Lamb of God which taketh away the sins of the world. It is a word picture, not a literal description, as you already know. The church is described as His body and His bride. Then came one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues, and spoke to me, saying,Come, I will show you the Bride, the wife of the Lamb.(Revelation 21:9, RSV.) Here is yet another reference to Christ, the Lamb being the husband and the bride is the church. Love, Jan

Hi Alex

Yes the Bible is quite clear on who the bride is. Its the Church., Gods people.

Would the Father be at his own sons wedding? The simple basic answer is yes. How a person would answer that I think would depend on how they view God.There are 3 views of God held by most Christians today. The view held by most Christians is the doctrine of The Trinity. That says God is one being, mind but is also Father, Son and Holy Spirit. If one holds this view then the Father could be both guest and groom at the wedding at the same time. Another view held by some Christians is another view of the Trinity. It says that God, The Son and the Holy Spirit are three beings whose mind are the same in character, thinking and motives etc. If one holds this view then the Father could be a guest at the wedding. A minority of Christian hold another view of God It says that God and The Son are two seprate beings whose minds are the same in Character, thinking and motive. The Holy Spirit is the power God uses to do things. If one holds this view then the Father could be a guest at the wedding. The above is the very basic stating of the three views of God held by most Christians today. There really is not one answer to the question. There is no scriptures that really bare on this. Hope my answer helps. HAPPY FALL FEASTS ! I am already excited about about the Feast of Tabanacles. Can hardly wait! Gods Blessings Paul
